Rockdale County Is Leading the Metro Area in Early Voting Ahead of May 19 Primary

Rockdale County is outpacing metro Atlanta counties in early voting participation ahead of the May 19, 2026 General Primary and Nonpartisan Election, according to unofficial turnout data from the Georgia Secretary of State's Election Data Hub.

Through Day 8 of the early voting period — as of May 4 — Rockdale County voters have cast 3,912 ballots, representing 6.07 percent of the county's 64,446 active registered voters. That figure places Rockdale at the top of the metro area in early voting turnout percentage, according to the Secretary of State's data.

Inside the county, Flat Shoals precinct is leading all precincts with a 7.68 percent turnout rate through Day 8, followed by Smyrna at 6.81 percent and St. Pius at 6.93 percent. The Conyers precinct currently has the lowest participation rate at 4.24 percent.

Countywide, Democrats are driving the majority of in-person early votes, with 2,952 Democratic ballots cast compared to 557 Republican and 72 nonpartisan ballots in-person.

Early voting in Rockdale County runs through Friday, May 15 at 7:00 PM. Election Day is Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
